Who Are We?

TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IS...

CHRISTIAN: Our great joy is that Jesus Christ loves us, not because we are worthy in any way, but because He is good. In response, we are leaning to love Him and one another. All this comes as a gift from the Father who sent Jesus to us, so that as Jesus unites Himself to us and fills us with the Holy Spirit, we too can know and enjoy God as our Father. Being so blessed, we in turn are seeking to share that blessing with others.

CONFESSIONAL: Our only rule for faith and life is the Bible, the Word of God. But we believe it is useful, and necessary, to be clear about what the Bible teaches so we use the confessions of the church which summarize the Bible’s truths. We confess (believe in) the Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, and The Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

REFORMED: The simple definition of Reformed Theology is that we always need to be reforming our thoughts and actions in submission to the Word of God. More specifically, we believe that Triune God made us in His image for fellowship with Him. Though we broke that fellowship through our disobedience (sin), God instead of condemning us as we deserved, instead pursued us and saved us first by giving us His promises, then by giving us His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus, became like us (even taking our sin and suffering for us) so that we might be restored and renewed to enjoy God. He also gives us the Holy Spirit, who applies all that Jesus accomplished to us, so that we can realize our true purpose – to glorify and enjoy Triune God.

WITNESSES: Being blessed by God to know and enjoy Him is what we were made for. It is also what we  long for. We want to share with everyone all that we have received, are receiving, and hope to receive because of Jesus. Though we fall far short, He has provided all we need. As we receive, we want to share what we have with any and all who are in need: spiritually, physically, intellectually, and emotionally.

COMMUNITY: We are in the process of working out what it means to be God’s family, loving one another and loving the world as He loves us. We do this in our worship, our fellowship, and our work.
